Why is my Verizon Broadband internet with a 5G limit using up data so fast?
I can only use 5G’s a month before they start charging me crazy amounts but it seems as though lately my Usage meter has been going up faster and faster despite me using the internet less and less. Last month I watched large flash videos online and listened to tons of music over the internet and all kinds of stuff and used maybe 3-3.5G’s. This month I have only been checking emails, reading news online, and checking my facebook and myspace and in just 2 weeks it says I have used 4G’s!!!!! what the hell is going on? Nothing is running in the background. Why is my internet getting eaten up?

Many facebook and myspace pages have videos and music running on them. If yours does, or the people’s pages you have been visiting do, then that will eat up some of your data usage. Also, if you forget to shut off your system when you aren’t using it, you will eat up your data usage allotment faster. If you are running an anti virus program or an internet security software, and those programs update, then you will also eat up data quickly. Check your computer to see what is currently running. Click CTRL ALT DELETE and open up the task manager, click on PROCESSES.
Look for services that include: toolbars, updates, updaters, automatic updates, and similar services. Many programs like anti virus software, media player software, etc update automatically. You can disable any and all of these updaters from running to save on your data usage.
Also remember that if you are watching news videos, or if you receive e-mails with attachments like photos and videos than you will use up your data allotment quickly.
